FAQs
What’s the first step?
A face-to-face meeting is best in an ideal world as it’s easier for us to work together if we have met in person. However, it’s not always practical. If we can’t meet in person, I can take a comprehensive brief from you by telephone. Expect a lot of questions; I’ll need to get to grips with your business, your target audience and what you want to achieve with your copy.
What happens next?
I’ll send you a copy proposal and quote, together with a contract. When your signed contract lands on my doormat and your downpayment appears in my bank account, I get writing. I’ll deliver a first draft for your approval within our agreed timeframe.
How much do you charge?
My day rate is £500 a day.
Can I see your terms and conditions?
Of course. Have a look.
What if I want more than just copywriting?
Don’t fret. If you need PR expertise, a website re-design or stunning photography, I can pull together a crack team of creatives – fast. I only recommend people that I like, trust and have worked with before, so you’ll never get less than the best. I can even project-manage the whole process for you if it helps.
Do you ever work as a consultant for agencies?
Yes, all the time. I work ‘under brand’ on copywriting projects for several PR and digital marketing agencies. As far as their clients are concerned, I’m just one of the team. It often makes sense for agencies to outsource their copywriting function, especially if they can’t justify a full-time writer in-house. It also adds breadth to their existing offering, enabling them to compete for new business that they wouldn’t otherwise have been able to win.
Can you come to my new business meeting?
Absolutely. If copywriting is a crucial part of the contract you’re after, I’m more than happy to support you at the meeting and help you talk your client through your strategy. I can write your new business proposal for you, too.
What about longer-term contracts?
I’m always happy to talk about long-term projects; after all, it’s nice to get away from my desk for a bit! Some clients even ask me to take a desk in their office for a couple of days a week to make it easier to work together.
